The Matt Talbot Center is a Washington State licensed, intensive outpatient addiction recovery center serving people in the greater Seattle area. We welcome adult men and women who are committed to becoming clean and sober to join our program free of charge. Through our faith-based program, members attend classes aimed at understanding and addressing issues associated with their addiction. These classes are combined with individual counseling and group fellowship. We offer more than a warm place and a meal – we help individuals overcome obstacles to self-sufficiency. We offer people the opportunity to regain their dignity and start their life anew. It takes the ability to see beyond an individual’s present circumstances, and to see what she or he can become. There are three phases to our year-long treatment program, outlined below.

Three Phase Recovery Program

Phase I – 4 Months

Treatment Elements:

  • Daily attendance, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-2:30pm
  • Individual sessions with case manager once a week
  • 90 meetings/90 days or minimum 3-4 AA/NA meetings per week
  • Signed attendance slips required for AA/NA meetings
  • Sponsor obtained within first 30 days
  • Random urine analyses

This is a full-time job and requires a full-time commitment!  During Phase I a member begins to heal from the physical effects of chemical dependency, or Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms (PAWS), and must learn to recognize and avoid his or her “triggers”.  The twelve steps provide progressive healing, and members work through relational issues individually with a qualified counselor and in group sessions with other members.  Education is also crucial at this stage.  The Matt Talbot Center offers five hours of classes per day, plus daily check-in and in-depth process groups.  Full completion of Phase I is required before part-time employment is an option.

Phase II – 4 Months

Treatment Elements:

  • Weekly attendance (number of days and/or classes to be determined with counselor)
  • Individual sessions with case manager once a week
  • 3-4 AA/NA meetings per week
  • Random urine analyses

In Phase II, a member works with a case manager to individualize his or her program to meet specific recovery needs and to further develop recovery/life skills.  By this time employment, relationships and housing begin to play a larger role in the member’s life.  Members will commence to Phase II.

Phase III – 4 Months

Treatment Elements:

  • Individual sessions with case manager
  • Group Attendance 1-2 times a month
  • 2-4 AA/NA meetings per week
  • Random urine analyses

The need for support continues after Phase II.  Ongoing group sessions are provided where relapse prevention methods, 12-step progression and goal setting are explored at a deeper level.  Individual sessions are available by appointment to members in Phase III on an as needed basis.  Phase III addresses the needs of members as they make the transition to a full life in recovery.
